Medical Lake man injured in I-90 rollover

SPOKANE -- A Medical Lake man and his passenger were injured in an early morning one-car rollover accident on Interstate 90.

According to a Washington State Patrol press memo, 35-year-old Steven D. Lassiter of Medical Lake was westbound on the freeway just west of State Route 902 in a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee at approximately 2:41 a.m. March 12. Near milepost 277-7 the Jeep suddenly left the roadway, struck an inclined dirt embankment, rolled and came to rest on the right shoulder.

Lassiter was injured and transported to Deaconess Medical Center. His passenger, 34-year-old Alex M. Jones, was also injured and transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Jones, whose city of residence is unknown at press time, was not wearing a seat belt and State Patrol investigators did not know if Lassiter was wearing one at the time of the accident.

State Patrol investigators believe alcohol or drugs were involved, listing the cause of the crash as DUI Drugs, and charging Lassiter with vehicular assault.
