Cheney Congregational Church

Adult Education Class will encounter Jesus in the book of Luke. Classes begin March 1 at 9 a.m.

Pastor Matt Goodale is continuing his series on “The Kingdom o==f God: Backwards and Upside Down.” There is a children’s area in the Sanctuary. Service starts at 10 a.m. Come and join us for fellowship, conversation and refreshment following the service.

Choir practice will not take place on Sunday morning Feb. 9. 

The topic for the Children’s Sunday Service is “Boy Jesus in the Temple” which will take place during the normal sermon.

Youth group (grades 6-12) meet at the United Methodist Church along with youth from other Cheney churches. They meet from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. with snacks (not dinner) provided on Sunday nights. All are welcome.

Feed Cheney will take place on Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. The location is the Wren Pierson Building at 615 4th St. All are welcome to come for dinner and groceries.

Men and women’s breakfast will be Feb. 9 and Feb. 23 at 7:45 a.m. The men will meet at Marketplace Bakery & Eatery on 1st Street and the women at Bene’s, also on 1st Street. Come join us.

Feb. 12, Lincoln’s Birthday, there will be a talk on: “Abraham Lincoln, Patron Saint of American Politics” by our local expert, Dick Donley. Admission is free and there will be free snacks following the talk. The only way to know if this talk is “tongue in cheek” or serious is to come and listen. The talk starts at 7 p.m. and lasts about one hour.

Lunch Bunch is a smorgasbord that meets at the church on Thursday, Feb. 13 at noon.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Visitors expected.

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Feb. 25, for our 11th annual Festival of Chocolate benefit for our Vacation Bible School program. This event is by donation and all monies collected will go to our Vacation Bible School fund.

Your donation also gives you a chance to win a “Get Fit Bag” or a beautiful lap quilt. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. and wrap up at 8 p.m.

Feb. 26 is Ash Wednesday, worship time is 7 p.m.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food, and personal care items for all ages are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Emmanuel thanks you for your continued support of this outreach ministry to our neighbors in need.

United Methodist Church

Please worship with us this week at the United Methodist Church as we continue a new sermon series, “We Belong to Christ,” based on Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. Worship is at 10 a.m. and you will always find a warm welcome. A multi-age Sunday school class meets each week at 9 a.m.

Sunday evening the ecumenical youth group will meet at 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. All 6-12 graders are welcome for study and fellowship. At 5:30 the youth will join with the adult fellowship for a potluck meal followed by an evening of fun and entertainment, “Methodist Got Talent”-style. Come and share your talent or applaud and support others who perform.
