Local conference brings beekeepers together to promote bee health

Eastern Washington University was buzzing on Saturday, Feb. 9, when it hosted the Washington State Beekeeper's Association Conference, bringing in beekeeping experts and newcomers from all over the Pacific Northwest to discuss issues facing local beehives.

"Beekeeping is a little bit of a science and a little bit of an art," executive director of the Washington State Beekeeper's Association Jennifer Priest said. "One in three bites of food is dependent on pollination, and honey bees are one of the major pollinators - we need them to continue having a healthy, reliable food supply chain."
