Cheryl Sue Hanson Folkman

Cheryl passed away peacefully on September 26, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was born April 19, 1941, in Fruita, Colo. to Lee K. Hanson and Letha Sue See Rand. She has lived in the Cheney area for more than 40 years.

Cheryl married the love of her life, Charles Ronald Folkman, on Jan. 31, 1959. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Seattle Temple on Feb. 10, 1996.

Cheryl had many loves, her greatest being her family. She actively participated in her children's lives. She was always there for her kid's events and tried to do the same for her grandchildren.

Cheryl worked many jobs. She loved selling candles for Lund's Lites, where she became a regional manager. Through them, she traveled around the country, participating in and giving seminars and met many wonderful people. She also worked in the mortgage business for many years, worked in banking and raised three children as a loving mother.


Cheryl loved people. Cheryl also loved everything Disney. She enjoyed going to Disneyland and Disney World with her husband, kids and grandkids. This love began when Ron and Cheryl were a young married couple living in Los Angeles. There was a room in their home dedicated to her Disney collection, which became known as the Disney room. Cheryl also enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Ron, grandson Kasey and her mother. She is survived by her children, Craig (Cecilia), Cherron (Scott), and Rick (Michelle). Her grandchildren include Brent, Kasey, Izatt, Karina, Wesley, Wyatt, and Carsten and two great-grandchildren, Ella and Sophie. Cheryl is also survived by her father, Lee (Cleo) and her sister, Linda (Travis).

A viewing will be held at Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W. First St., Friday, Oct. 5, from 4 -- 6 p.m. There will be an additional viewing at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Following the Saturday morning viewing, the funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 10405 Melville Road in Cheney on Oct. 6 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Spokane-Cheney Memorial Gardens, 5909 S Cheney-Spokane Road.
