Cheney dog park is proposed

City Council hears from residents about the need for an outdoor animal facility

Proponents of a dog park in Cheney were hoping a 2.53-acre parcel of city-owned land at State Route 904 and Presley Drive could be used for the facility.

Does Cheney really need a dog park?

That was the central question Cheney council members wanted to know about a request to build such a facility in the city, presented at their June 26 meeting.

The concept actually first came to light at the council's June 12 meeting when resident Chris Babcock approached them with the proposal. Babcock was seeking a letter of endorsement from the city to help a group she is working with apply for a $25,000 grant to build the facility at several possible locations.
