CHENEY
April 22
A rape was reported on the 100 block of West Sixth Street. Incident allegedly occurred in 2015.
A wallet belonging to a Spokane Valley resident was found in Whitman County and turned into the Cheney Police Department.
Jacob M. Jones, 21, was arrested on the zero hundred block of West Sixth Street for violation of a no contact order, giving false and misleading statements and obstructing a public officer in relation to a previous violation of a court order charge.
April 23
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 2400 block of University Lane.
April 24
Hilda B. Emerson, 40, was arrested at Sacred Heart Medical Center on five charges relating to a child abuse incident reported April 11 and being investigated in conjunction with agencies in Wenatchee, Wash. and Montana. Emerson was arrested on PC affidavit charges of first-degree rape of a child, first-degree child molestation, possession of child pornography, dealing in child pornography and sexual misconduct with a minor.
Second-degree theft was reported on the 700 block of West First Street. Investigators are working with Adult Protective Services on a situation involving a caregiver.
A missing person was reported on the zero hundred block of Columbia Street. Person is an adult who is still at large at press time.
Third-degree theft was reported on the 1000 block of Betz Road. A wallet and contents were taken.
Civil problems were reported on the 700 block of West First Street.
Third-degree malicious mischief was reported on the 1400 block of Gary Street. There was damage to a car.
April 25
Drake J. Cornet, 51, was arrested on the 1500 block of Salnave on a city of Spokane warrant for fourth-degree assault.
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 2200 block of First Street. Police arrested Heather L. Facer, 30, for city of Spokane warrants for simple assault/domestic violence and resisting arrest.
Zachary J. Southwick, 25, was arrested on the zero hundred block of Cheney-Spokane Road for third-degree theft/shoplifting.
Fourth-degree assault was reported on the 2300 block of University Lane.
April 26
Taking motor vehicle without owner’s permission was reported on the 200 block of Paradise Road. A 2014 blue Subaru Impreza was taken.
Nathaniel Petty III, 23, was given a court commitment at Cheney Municipal Court on charges of driving under the influence.
A watch was found on the 1400 block of Washington Street.
April 27
An identification was found on the zero hundred block of North Third Street.
April 28
Taking motor vehicle without owner’s permission was reported on the 3100 block of Silverthorne. A black and gold 1991 Nissan 240 SX was taken.
James R. McCormick, 28, was arrested on the 100 block of West First Street for third-degree driving while license suspended (DWLS). McCormick was also arrested for failure to obey a police officer.
April 29
Residential burglary was reported on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road. Forced entry and damage done to the interior, but nothing apparently taken.
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the zero hundred block of West Second Street.
An accident involving a pedestrian was reported on the 2300 block of First Street. A car hit a moped, with minor injuries to the moped driver.
Zachary J. Southwick, 25, was arrested on the zero hundred block of Cheney-Spokane Road for third-degree theft/shoplifting. Southwick was also arrested on city of Spokane warrants for city theft, obstructing a law enforcement officer, vehicle prowl and third-degree theft.
A violation of a no contact order was reported to the police station. Respondent to the report said a child playing with his cellphone had accidentally sent a text message to the order’s petitioner.

April 24
A prowl check was conducted on the 1300 block of South Lefevre Street.
