From the archives: 1987 The project for the day was to make a snowman, as preschoolers gathered at the Cheney library. Doreen Sherwood, 5, and her mother, Jeanne, worked on their snowman's stovepipe hat.

Veronica Kline of the Cheney Mat Hawks wrestling club kept batches of pancakes coming to nearly 150 residents who attended the Airway Heights' first-annual "Breakfast with Santa" event at the Airway Heights Community Center.

Safety concerns aside, the city of Cheney began to take steps to silence, or at least reduce the blare from train horns within the city limits.

Paul Wulff took another leap in his career to become the next head coach for his alma mater at Washington State University.
