Cheney council approves four utility-related projects

Work includes emergency water line repairs, street and crosswalk striping along with removing moisture from a Light Department substation transformer

Cheney’s City Council elected to pull the trigger on several upcoming projects at their Sept. 12 meeting — but first had to pay for an emergency one that already took place.

The council voted unanimously to approve a resolution paying Dow Excavating $13,752, plus tax, for work the company did to repair an existing leaking water main along First Street between Cheney Feed and Tack and the Baptist Church. Total price of the work with tax came to $14,692, and as part of the resolution, the council approved an appropriation of $16,483 for the quoted work plus contingencies.
