Betz PTA holds carnival and auction

The Betz Elementary PTA is holding its annual carnival and silent auction on Friday, Nov. 4 from 5 – 8 p.m. The event is open to the community, so come out and enjoy a fun family time.

There will be carnival games, bounce houses, face painting and food. All proceeds go towards supporting the Betz PTA.


American Legion turkey bingo Nov. 13

Cheney’s American Legion is holding a Turkey Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 13, beginning at 2 p.m. and ending who knows when. Prizes include turkeys, gift cards from various Cheney businesses, two Blackout prizes, a gift packet from the Spokane Chiefs for four (including a Zamboni ride for one) and a spa suite for two at Quality Inn.

Bingo is 50 cents a card, with blackout cards $1. There will also be chili and chili dogs served, and everyone is welcome — kids too.

The American Legion Hall is at 116 College Ave. in downtown Cheney.


St. Paul’s Episcopal holds holiday bazaar

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church’s annual holiday bazaar will take place Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Items available will include baked goods, handmade crafts, collectibles and other gift items.

Local author Rita Seedorf will be present to autograph and sell her latest book, “Wary Watchers,” the sequel to her first book, “Letters from Brackham Wood.”

St. Paul’s is located at 625 C St. in Cheney.


Military appreciation drive set for Nov. 11

Cheney’s Emmanuel Lutheran Church is hosting a Military Appreciation Drive on Friday, Nov. 11 — Veterans Day. The drive runs from 9 a.m. – noon, 639 Elm St.

Items that can be dropped off include knit hats and scarves, socks (not white), gum, mints, breath strips, dental products, individual packets of moist towelettes and hand/foot warmers. A complete list is available at http://www.OperationGratitude.com.
