Cheney begins its journey down the road to reuse

DOE approval of preliminary concept of a reclaimed water system for irrigation only could open financing doors

The city of Cheney has issued a notice of application and accompanying SEPA environmental review checklist for a proposal to design and construct a reclaimed water system that would be used to treat wastewater from the city's reclamation plant and use it for irrigation on city parks, school district fields and potentially fields and lawns at Eastern Washington University.

Cheney Public Works Director Todd Ableman probably put that in a more concise manner.

"It's a roadmap to reuse," Ableman said.

The application and environmental checklist is the product of work done by the city's engineering...
