Candidate Q&A

1. What is the most important issue facing the 6th District?

2. Three things will you do if elected?

Lynnette Vehrs

1. Affordable quality health care is the important issue facing not only our constituents, but (also) the state. Many (people) are fearful of getting sick and losing their homes and jobs.

2. Passing House Bill 1321 and Senate Bill 5305 affirming health care as a human right.

It is also critical to fully fund K-12 (education) as required by our constitution.

Protect women’s full reproductive health care services.

Mike Volz

1. A business-friendly tax and regulatory climate will attract employers, large and small to Spokane. We have several assets in place that make our city attractive – a great airport, plenty of building space and a source of highly skilled and educated employees.

2. Improve conditions in the economy, move education back to locally-controlled coalitions of school boards, parents and teachers and fix the failing infrastructure.

Ian Field

1. More jobs in a healthy economy – and we can get there by reforming government, keeping taxes low and prioritizing great public schools and universities, solid roads and infrastructure and safety in our communities.

2. We have twice the property crime as Idaho. We should enact policies here that have lowered crime and recidivism in other states. I want to give more flexibility to teachers and parents and make sure every school receives funding to provide a great education.
