West Plains Chamber of Commerce's golf tournament gets new name

The West Plains Chamber of Commerce’s golf event is getting a bit of an early 15th birthday present: a new moniker. The 2016 edition of the annual event will now be called the West Plains Masters. The golf scramble, happening Sept. 16 at the Fairways Golf Course, will feature even more changes to raising money.

“This event needs to be something special …something that will stick in the minds of people,” Steve Emtman, Chamber Golf committee chair said. “We have done a good job at having a golf scramble for the past 15 years, but we needed to take it to the next level this year.”

The West Plains Masters will feature other big changes as well. Traditionally when a business or organization chose to sponsor a hole at a tournament, organizers placed a sign on the hole to recognize the sponsor. The tournament will have sponsors out on the hole so they can interact with golfers.

Check in will begin at 9 a.m. with the scramble format tournament beginning at 11. Four member teams are available for $425 and singles for $110. Prices increase Aug. 1. Sponsorships are available for purchase, many come with a complimentary team entry. More information can be found by visiting http://www.westplainschamber.org or by calling the Chamber at (509) 747-8480.
