Feed Medical Lake May 9 offers meal

Feed Medical Lake is serving a beef enchilada casserole, Mexican cole slaw, grilled corn, and banana poke cake at the free meal/free grocery day May 9, from 5-6 p.m. at 223 S. Hallett St.

There will be a children’s creation station craft table, a mini-fair featuring Care Cars (Elderly Services) along with information about Spokane Neighbor Action Partners, Community Health Plan of Washington, Children’s Home Society of Washington and CHAS in Cheney. Learn about and sign up for their various programs.

Firewise hosts community day

The Malloy Prairie Corridor Firewise organization is hosting a community day Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at 620 N. Stanley St. in Medical Lake.

Representatives from the state Department of Natural Resources, Spokane County Conservation District, Spokane County Fire District 3, State Farm and Adams Tractor will be on hand providing free information on a number of topics including forest safety, land assessment and the benefits of creating a Firewise organization. There will also be a potluck at 1 p.m.

ML Dollars for Scholars yard sale

The Medical Lake Dollars for Scholars are holding their annual “Super Yard Sale” this Friday and Saturday, May 6 – 7, at Denny’s Harvest Foods parking lot. The sale runs Friday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Come support Medical Lake High School seniors through purchasing quality items such as furniture, sports equipment, clothing and household goods.

MLHS blood drive

Inland Northwest Blood Center along with Medical Lake High School volunteers led by Sue Anderson will be coordinating a blood drive Wednesday, May 11, at the high school’s small gym. Donation hours are from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest. A single donation can save the lives of up to three people.

USPS food drive fill a bag – feed families

Saturday May 14 is annual the U.S. Postal Service National Association of Letter Carriers food drive. Residents are encouraged to place any food donations by their mailbox, and they will be delivered to the Cheney Food Bank.

All the food items collected will remain in the Cheney area. Suggested items are canned meats, fish, soup, juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal, peanut butter and rice.

Items can also be left at the Cheney Post Office.
