Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Sunday, March 20, Palm Sunday, is all about making an entrance. We wave palm branches and sing “Hosanna.” But this Sunday is not just about entrances; today is also the Sunday of the Passion, when we tell the story of what happens after Jesus gets to Jerusalem.

Jesus was arrested, tortured, crucified and buried in Jerusalem. For this reason the focus of today’s readings in not on entrance but of emptying. Jesus “emptied himself…and became obedient to the point of death-even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:7-8). We do not just enter Holy Week on this Sunday, we are drawn into it. Please join us.

Holy Week services begin on March 24 with Maundy Thursday worship at St Paul’s Episcopal Church at 7 p.m. Good Friday, March 25, worship will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 27, Easter breakfast will be served from 9 – 10 a.m., a goodwill offering will be collected. Easter Festival service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Join us as we celebrate the Risen Lord!
