Cheney United Church of Christ

Guest pastor Jan Shannon will preside at Cheney United Church of Christ Sunday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m.  A fellowship hour will follow.  The message this week will be “The Bread of Life.”  Everyone is invited to join our services and activities. 

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to “Worship in the Park” with us this Sunday, Aug. 9 at Sutton Park gazebo beginning at 10:30 a.m. Bring your family, friends and a comfy chair and worship with us in God’s creation. A two-site Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14. “Unvanquished” will be the theme for this year’s program. The Lutherhaven Staff will lead the children through a week of learning, games, crafts, and activities.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church will host children who will be entering grades 1 – 6 this fall from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please plan to bring a daily sack lunch. St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church will host children 3 – 5 years of age from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. on the same dates as above. Registration forms are available at Emmanuel Lutheran Church or online at http://www.emmanuelcheney.org under the Ministries tab. Please fill out one form per child you will be registering. United Methodist Church

The Rev. Alissa Bertsch Johnson will lead the service and continue her sermon series on the Book of Acts this Sunday, Aug. 9 at the United Methodist Church. Worship is at 10 a.m. and is welcoming and open to all.

Sunday afternoon there will be an all-church picnic at the Sooy’s. Bring a potluck dish, lawn chairs, a swimsuit and join the fun.

“Everest, conquering challenges with God’s mighty power,” is the theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School. VBS is scheduled for Aug. 16-20. You can register on line on the church website, http://www.cheneyumc.org. Contact the church office for times and days of other study opportunities.
