Betty Beard

Our beloved mother, Betty Beard, passed away at home May 13, 2015 at 85 years of age.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1930 and was a resident of Cheney for 62 years. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Wally, who she was married to for 42 years.

She is survived by her children: Ann (Chet) Bettcher, Alan (Sally) Beard, and Patty (Mike) Cowen; grandchildren: Amanda, Ken, Allison, Ashley, Nicholas, Shelly and Rachel and 12 lively great-grandchildren who called her "Great Betty."

Betty was associated with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 72, Lutheran World Relief, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney School District, Lutheran Women in Harmony and the Cheney Recycling Center.

She was well known for teaching swim lessons for 20 years. Betty was also known for making quilts, a passion for lighthouses and loving to sing.

A celebration of her life was held May 18. Donations can be made in Betty's name to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
