SEEING DOUBLE DUO Feb. 27

Acclaimed New York City violinist Sarah Whitney and award-winning Eastern Washington University lecturer in violin/viola Dr. Julia Salerno are teaming up to perform a variety of works from Baroque to jazz this Friday night, Feb. 27.

"Seeing Double Duo," will perform at 7 p.m. at the EWU Music Building Recital Hall in a free concert to feature works by Martinu, Halvorsen, Mozart, Mark Summer and many others.

Whitney is a member of the acclaimed string quartet "Sybarites," the first string quartet to win the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. Their album "Disturb the Silence," reached Billboard's Top-10 and the group has performed at venues such as the Lincoln Center, Aspen Music Festival and the CBS Early Show.

Whitney is also a talented soloist and recording artist, co-founder of "Jungle Punks Hipster Orchestra" and has been featured onstage with the Transiberian Orchestra, Jeff Beck and Andrew Wyatt.

Salerno won first prize and the festival medal in the 2000 Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, was a national finalist for the String Division of the 2001 MTNA collegiate competition and was String Division Young Artist Winner of Musicfest Northwest in 2004.

She has served as concertmaster of many orchestras, including three years at the University of Michigan, during which she was also a violin soloist on that orchestras Grammy award-winning recording of William Bolcom's "Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience."
