Grain train jumps the tracks

A 30-car Eastern Washington Gateway grain train derailed Thursday, Jan. 15, before 1:30 a.m., closing the Cheney-Spokane road on the northeast side of Cheney until Saturday. No injuries were reported. Officials are still awaiting the outcome of a federal Railroad Administration investigation, but believe the cause of the accident was a broken rail due to cold weather.
