Poindexter sentenced to 20 years

In a news release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Ormsby, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington announced that James G. Poindexter, 26, of Spokane, was sentenced Nov. 17, to 20 years in federal prison.

Poindexter pleaded guilty to federal charges of production and distribution of child pornography back in September. He also pleaded guilty to third-degree child rape, third-degree child molestation and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. His sentencing for these charges will take place, Nov. 25.

Poindexter, who lived in the Hallett House, on E. 623 Lake St., in Medical Lake was arrested back in March.

According to the report, the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at Poindexter’s residence in Medical Lake. Through the investigation they found over 600 explicit images on his cellphone, several computers and other digital storage devices that belonged to Poindexter. Authorities also searched an apartment in Spokane Valley during the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation

According to court documents, Microsoft informed the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that explicit images were uploaded to its public servers in October and November 2013.

After Poindexter is released from federal prison, he will have a life term of court imposed supervision, and is required to register as a sex offender.

In the news release, Ormsby commended the investigative work between the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.

“This egregious case is yet another example of the exemplary working partnership between state and federal law enforcement officers in the Eastern District of Washington,” Ormsby said. “Make no mistake, the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Washington is and will continue to be committed to prosecuting aggressively and seeking appropriate punishment for child pornography crimes.”
