What used to be single game impacts now happen at Eastern each home game for Cheney police and fire
Because of the success of the Eastern Washington football program over the past several years, for the city of Cheney, every home game weekend in fall is a Grizzly weekend.
“EWU football games in the last few years are well attended when any team comes to town,” Cheney’s finance director, Cindy Niemeier, said in an email. “Montana does seem to bring more fans than others, but the stadium still holds the same amount of people.”
Niemeier said it’s difficult to nail down economic impacts because the sales tax data the city receives is monthly rather than for specific weeks or weekends.
