Cheney United Church of Christ

Sunday services begin at 10 a.m. at Cheney UCC, across the street from the high school parking lot at 423 N. Sixth St. Visitors are always welcome.

Congregants are reminded of the special meeting on Sunday, Aug. 17, to approve the nomination of Jane Yarwood as Children’s Ministries portfolio holder. A quorum is needed, so please be there.

We are a welcoming and vital church.  On Sunday, Aug. 31, it’s “barbecue day.”  The church council will provide a barbecue lunch for all attendees after the 10 a.m. worship service. Invite some friends.

The church council met Aug. 10. They approved the nomination of a new financial secretary, Steve Taylor.  Plans for the upcoming Sunday School year, which will begin Sept. 14, were discussed. The council accepted the resignations of Jerry Hilton as financial secretary and Cliff Tiedt as music director.

United Methodist Church

There will be a get acquainted potluck Saturday at 6 p.m. at the United Methodist Church parsonage, 914 Summit Drive. The main dish will be provided, so just bring a side dish and come and get to know our new pastor and see the recent improvements to the parsonage.

Sunday morning worship is at 10 a.m. at UMC. Worship will be led by the Rev. Alissa Bertsch Johnson who will continue a sermon series on the parables of Jesus. This Sunday she will speak on the Canaanite woman and the kingdom for all.

Vacation Bible School is here and begins Sunday evening, Aug. 17. Join us at Wilderness Escape and explore what life was like for the ancient Israelites. We will travel with Moses in inter-generational groups each night Aug. 17-21. The evening begins with a free family dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by stories, crafts, games and much more from 6-8 p.m.
