Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invite you to worship with us this Sunday, July 20, at Sutton Park’s gazebo at 10:30 a.m. as we celebrate the sixth Sunday after Pentecost. Bring your family, friends, neighbors, and a comfy chair and worship with us in God’s creation. Sam Thomas, accordionist extraordinaire will provide the worship music. All are welcome.

This is the last week to register for our two-site Vacation Bible School. VBS begins Monday, July 21, and will run through Friday, July 25. “Marvelous” will be the theme for this year’s program. The Lutherhaven staff will lead the children through a week of learning, games, crafts, and other activities. Emmanuel Lutheran Church will host children who will be entering grades 1-6 this fall. A daily sack lunch will be needed as our VBS hours will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church will host children ages 3-5, Monday through Friday, from 9–11:30 a.m. Registration forms are available at Emmanuel Lutheran Church above the mailbox at 639 Elm St. or online at http://www.emmanuelcheney.org. Please use a form for each child you will be registering. Questions? Please contact the church office at 235-6300 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – noon.

United Church of Christ

Council members, please come with wide-awake minds to the seminar on Friday, July 18, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to start planning for next year.

At the Cheney United Church of Christ, pastor David Krueger-Duncan will be speaking on “Weddings” at the 10 a.m. worship service, and all are invited to attend. Child care is provided in the Christian Education building from 9:45 – 11:15 a.m. School-age children may attend the service with their parents.

During the fellowship time after church, friends new and old will chat over refreshments.

Portfolio holders and others wishing to submit articles to the church newsletter, please do so by the “Table Talk” deadline — probably July 23. Also, volunteers from “Women’s Fellowship” will deliver lunch to Crosswalk on Thursday, July 24.

United Methodist Church

Are you new to or visiting the Cheney area? Maybe you are looking for a church home. Please be our guest at the United Methodist Church. Sunday morning worship is at 10 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Alissa Bertsch Johnson. Pastor Johnson will continue the sermon series on the Beatitudes.

Sunday evening at 6 p.m. there is a second worship service, more conversational in style. Saturday evening, July 19, there is a get aquatinted potluck at the home of Rob and Anna Meyer. Chicken will be provided. Just bring a side dish and join us at 6 p.m. as we continue to welcome and get to know our new pastor and her husband.
