The partial federal government shutdown hit the West Plains earlier this week at Fairchild Air Force Base, where some services were temporarily suspended due to the inaction in Washington, D.C.
According to a press release by Fairchild, approximately 300 civilian members and 248 inactive guardsmen were furloughed as a result of the shutdown.
Military health care is still available for those who are enrolled.
“Private sector care under TRICARE will continue, as will inpatient, acute and emergency outpatient care in medical/dental treatment facilities. We encourage all personnel to contact their local treatment facility to confirm services and appointments,” the press release reads.
The base library, teen and pre-teen center were noted as closed until further notice. Tuesday, the base commissary was open, but closed Wednesday until further notice.
Child care centers and the youth center continued to operate at normal hours.
“All other Force Support Squadron facilities are still available for use and are operational. This includes the Funspot, Arts and Crafts center, Outdoor Recreation, and the Auto Hobby shop,” the press release read.
