Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you, your family and friends to worship with us Sunday, Sept. 29, at 10:30 a.m. as we celebrate the 19th Sunday after Pentecost. Preschool through adult Christian education begins at 9 a.m.

Emmanuel will host StageWest Community Theater’s production of “It was a Dark and Stormy Night” written by Tim Kelly and directed by Charles Kenfield. Play dates are: Friday, Oct. 11, 18 and 25 at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 19, and 26 at 7 p.m. Sunday matinees will be Oct. 13 and 27 at 3 p.m.

Please note that Oct. 26 is reserved dinner theater night. A four course New England dinner prepared by Willow Springs will be served at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $25 for pre-sale dinner reservation purchased by Oct. 21. The annual church bazaar and luncheon is rapidly approaching. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 2. Crafts, soup lunch, pie, coffee, raffle basket, white elephant items and more will be available. This is a great opportunityfor early Christmas shopping.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

We are a welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Join us for the 19th Sunday after Pentecost. Please join us for the Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

Welcome back college students. Enjoy dinner with us Mondays at 5 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Following dinner, we will have a short Bible study and/or worship service. Come and bring a friend.

We wish all students and teachers best wishes and blessings as they begin another year of learning and discovery following a splendid summer.

Narcotics anonymous meet in the Parish Hall each Tuesday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Fellowship breakfast is every Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Join us for good food, fellowship and discussion. Come and bring a friend.

United Church of Christ

The United Church of Christ welcomes back the Boy Scouts in Cheney. Starting this month Boy Scout troop 356 and five Cub Scout dens meet regularly in the Fellowship Hall. The Cub Scouts had their recruiting night Sept. 16 for boys in first to fifth grades. Boy Scouts are generally for ages 10-18.

The annual coat drive is “bringing warmth and smiles to Cheney area families,” Sept. 19-Oct. 19. Please leave donated coats in churches, schools, or sponsoring businesses.

The United Church of Christ welcomes everyone to its regular Sunday morning service led by pastor David Krueger-Duncan in the sanctuary at 423 North Sixth St., at 10 a.m.

School-age children are urged to attend classes after the children’s minutes but may instead attend the entire service with their parents. Preschool children may go to the nursery from 9:45-11:15 a.m.

After church we’ll enjoy coffee, cookies and chatting.
