Several offices remain vacant before start of elections

No candidates filed for several open offices during the regular filing period.

In the interest of filing these offices through the election process, the Spokane County Elections Office will open a special three-day filing period beginning Wednesday, Aug. 7, for the districts listed below:

• Town of Spangle – (Council Position No. 1)

• Fire District No. 2 – (Commissioner Position No. 1 and 3)

• Fire District No. 11 – (Commissioner Position No. 1)

• Fire District No. 12 – (Commissioner Position No. 1 and 3)

• Hangman Hills Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 3)

• Irvin Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 1 and 2)

• Strathview Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 2)

• Vel-View Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)

• Milan Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 1)

• Moran Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 2 and 3)

• Spangle Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 1)

• Waverly Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)

These vacant positions will appear on the general election ballot. The candidate that receives the most votes will be elected to fill the unexpired term.

Those interested in filing for one of the vacant positions listed should go to the Spokane County Elections Office at 1033 W. Gardner Avenue between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Aug. 7-9, or file online at http://www.spokanecounty.org/elections.

Please be prepared to pay the required filing fee in full.
