Around 20 firearms were taken from a Medical Lake home Saturday, Sept. 29. Last week, Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies helped recover some of those, while still pursuing the remaining weapons.
Officers arrested Cody Wolfley, 20, on a charge of first-degree armed burglary, 17 counts of possession of a stolen firearm, theft of a firearm and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. At press time, Wolfley was being held on $100,000 bond.
According to a press release, officers were contacted by a homeowner on the 1100 block of North Wilcox Street regarding a residential burglary. He reported more than 20 firearms were taken from the residence, and at the time officers had no suspect information.
An anonymous call to the Medical Lake precinct office informed detectives a female juvenile, later identified as the homeowner’s juvenile daughter, was trying to sell firearms to kids in the city. Officers later determined the juvenile and Wolfley took the homeowner’s firearms.
The juvenile, according to the press release, was promised a vehicle if she provided the weapons to Bradley Kelly, 21. Officers followed Kelly heading out from Medical Lake the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 3, and took him into custody for several counts of possession of stolen property.
Spokane County SWAT teams served multiple warrants later in the evening at residences on the 1000 block of East Ladd Road, the 300 block of East Fellows Road and the 1000 block of North Dover Road.
The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t believe the act was part of an organized effort, however there are a number of people involved in this instance. Investigators are still working out who was involved in the actual theft, and where the possible involvement of others began.
The case is still under investigation, and will be updated as more information arises.
