Dallas Adolph Grothe

Dallas Adolph Grothe of Port Angeles, Wash., passed away Sept. 2, at Heartland Adult Family Care Home in Sequim, Wash., of age-related causes. He was 92.

 

Dallas was born to Adolph O. and Alma E. (Peterson) Grothe on March 7, 1916, in Badger, Minn. He served four years in the U.S. Army Air Force as a staff sergeant. He married Alice J. (Tauer) Grothe in June of 1947 in Greenbush, Minn.

Dallas farmed in Badger until the late 1950s before moving to Cheney, where he worked as a school bus driver and then as a custodian until his retirement in 1978. Dallas was a member of the Nazarene Church.

In 2005, Dallas and Alice moved to Port Angeles. Dallas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alice J. Grothe of Port Angeles; sons, Daniel A. Grothe of Yuma, Ariz.; Robert D. and Nancy Grothe of Spokane; Brent J. and Jan Grothe of Wenatchee, Wash.; daughters, LaNae A. and David Firch of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Karen A. Cross of Port Angeles; grandchildren, Maegan N. and Daniel Dedrick of Oakland, Calif.; Geoffrey M. Cross of Sequim, Wash.; Andrew J. Cross of W. Palm Beach, Fla.; Gregory A. Cross of Port Angeles.; Rachel B., Danielle E., and Olivia L. Grothe of Wenatchee, Wash.; step-grandchildren, Kailey J. Trott, TaSean E. Witherwax, Joshua D. Witherwax, and Isabella R. Grothe, all of Spokane; brother, Rev. Alvin and Loretta Grothe of Astoria, Ore.; sister, Elva Auestad of Astoria. 

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Walter Grothe, and sister, Constance Grothe.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to a charity of your choice.
