Cheney book club meeting May 22

“Pompeii,” an exciting historical novel is the May selection of the Book Discussion Group of the Friends of the Cheney Community Library. The group meets on Tuesday, May 22, at the library. All are welcome.

In “Pompeii,” author Robert Harris tells the story of a young engineer who learns of strange disruptions on the aqua ducts that bring water to Rome. His investigations, close to Mount Vesuvius, lead to danger and romance.

EWU concert features concerto winners

The Eastern Washington University Symphony Orchestra will perform their spring concert featuring winners of the 2007 EWU Concerto Competition. Dvorak's Symphony No. 8 will also be featured on this concert conducted by Morihiko Nakahara.

The concert takes place Thursday, May 31, at 7:30 p.m. at the EWU Music Building Recital Hall. General admission is $5, $3 for seniors and students and free to EWU students with identification. For more information, please call 359-2241, or go online at http://www.ewu.edu.

Hunter ed classes offered in Cheney

Hunter education classes are being offered in Cheney for hunters of all ages. The classes run May 19-26, and children under age 12 may attend as long as a parent accompanies them each night.

Cheney Ambassadors still wanted

A reunion is being organized for all former members of the Cheney High School Ambassador's choral group. The reunion is at Lindbergh High School, Renton, Wash, June 1-2, 2007.
