May 19 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cheney Multicultural Festival will be going on in downtown Cheney on College Street (between First and Second Street).

Attractions will include music from local artists, dancing, food from Cheney and Spokane Restaurants and crafts from the local area. Contact Dr. James Ochwa-Echel at 359-6301 for more details.

May 22 – 7 p.m. Cheney Book Discussion Group will meet at the community library to talk about “Pompeii: A Novel,” by Robert Harris. Kris Barnes will lead the discussion. Call 235-4490 for more information, or e-mail jtracy@icehouse.net.

May 26 – 11 a.m. Cook Out & Concert in Cheney in the parking lot of the Artist Café and 1st Street Int'l Market (28 W. First Street). Sample steaks, ribs, sausages, gourmet hot dogs, burgers and more and enjoy music performances by Echolalia, Kyle Butler, Lucille Canaday, Neal Harris, Amber Rhodes, Hands Across Nations, Melanie Villa and many more.

Charity proceeds go to Cheney Outreach Center, Missionaries of Charity, Hands Across Nations, and Change for the Future. For more information, call 235-6163.

May 23 – 7:30 p.m. Soundscapes concert at MBRH. General admission $5, for seniors and non-EWU students $3.

May 25 – 7:30 p.m. Jazz Night at MBRH. General admission $5, for seniors and non-EWU students $3.

Medical Lake School District

May 17-18 – 7 p.m. Medical Lake High School beginning drama presents its production of “Treasure Island” in the high school auditorium. Admission is $3 per person. Call 565-3222 for more information.

May 25 – 7-8:30 p.m. MLHS Java and Jazz fundraiser featuring performances by the high school jazz band and Windborne choir singing jazz tunes. Desserts and coffee will be served and tickets are $5 (available at the door, or at the high school) Large groups are asked to call teacher Michelle Watkins at 565-3222 to reserve tables.
