    The Eastern Washington University track and field teams will see their first competition at home this Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5, when they host the Candy Cane VIII at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse. Admission is free. Competition will begin on Friday with the women’s pentathlon starting at 11 a.m. and the men’s heptathlon will begin at 11:30 a.m. The men’s heptathlon will finish on Saturday with events starting at 9 a.m. Individual field events will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with running events to follow at 12:30 p.m....

    Junior women’s cross country student-athlete Sarah Reiter and redshirt senior football student-athlete Aaron Neary have been selected by the Eastern Washington University Athletics Department as its November Scholar-Athletes of the Month. A Renton, Wash., native, Reiter owns a 3.77 grade point average as a business management major. Neary hails from Richland, Wash., and sports a 3.13 GPA as a secondary education major.     It took until the very final week but Week 10 of the 2015 Cheney Free Press football contest produced its first perfect week as Kathy Davis of Mead correctly selected all 13 games to win a $50 merchant’s gift certificate.     Charlotte Ann Tackett Galloway passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2015, due to Alzheimer's disease. Charlotte's family members were by her side and held her hands during her final days.
