    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated May 5, 2017

See a photo gallery from the event here. A week ago the Medical Lake baseball team was struggling, having lost four out of five games and sinking towards uncertainty. But head coach Kerry Kelly was sensing things were changing, particularly with attitudes. Their Saturday win over Riverside added an exclamation point to the brief...

When work begins later this spring on rehabilitating Sutton Park's gazebo, residents shouldn't just look at it as an effort to preserve a popular location for concerts, movies and other events in Cheney. Residents should look at it as an effort to preserve a piece of history - history stretching all the way back to late 19th, early 20th century Coeur d'Alene. A pair of league wins eluded Medical Lake as they met Freeman and Chewelah on April 27. But along with an 80-45 win over Chewelah, what may have been more important for Medical Lake might have been the individual improvements seen by head coach Gene Blankenship. Medical Lake lost a heartbreaker to Freeman, 73-71. The Medical Lake girls also split, losing to Freeman 106-42, but edging Chewelah 71-69. While Blankenship insists that league meets are not the big picture at the...

  • Medical Lake ends softball skid

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated May 5, 2017

The Medical Lake softball team ended a four game losing streak that had included a pair of poundings by doing one of their own in Northeast A League play. Losses to Deer Park 9-5 on April 25 and then back-to-back shutouts on consecutive days — Lakeside 13-0, April 27 and Colville 10-0, April 28 — were fueled in part by the opponent’s pitching, but aided by suspect defense on the part of the Cardinals, who committed 18 errors in the three games, nine alone versus Lakeside. But...

  • Blackhawks fall to East Valley in regular season finale

    John McCallum, Editor|Updated May 5, 2017

Rather, it's a positive step for the Blackhawks with the playoffs looming on their doorstep. The move worked. In the 55th minute of a...
