509ers score well in Boise

Runners next head to Los Angeles

BOISE, Idaho -- Cheney boys cross country runners – racing as the 509ers – returned from the NXR Northwest Regional Championships with a notable finish Nov. 11 at Eagle Island State Park.

With No. 1 runner Calvin Hilton choosing to run in the Men’s 5,000 Meters Championship, that left others to compete in the field of more than 1,400 runners in the Men’s 5,000 Meters Open race.

Hilton finished 32nd with a time of 15:42.60. The fastest time, 14:49.60, was from top individual Nathan Neil from Bozeman XC.

South Central Spokane 1 (256 points) topped their division with the 509ers fourth with 443.

The race was won by Kaden Chatfield of the Wolverines 2 club from Riverton, Wyoming in a time of 15:44.10 with 509ers Sam Hilton 55th in 16:40.50.

The remainder of the Cheney/509ers contingent included: Cameron Frenk (16:47.00/71st); Holland Hurd (17:03.50/132); Lucas Matos (17:05.10/136); Conor Thomsen (17:24.80/238); Yuta Inoue (17:34.10/296) and Ethan Martin (17:37.60/322).

Next up for the Cheney contingent that will include Calvin Hilton, Frenk and Hannah Ward in the Foot Locker Cross Country West Regional Championships, Dec. 2 at Mount San Antonio College in the Los Angeles area.
