Bi-Mart receives award

CHENEY, WA - Bi-Mart has been named the “Cheney Business of the Year” in the prestigious West Plains Chamber Best of the West Awards on Nov. 1.

This award serves as a testament to the hard work and commitment of the team behind the Cheney store, led by the dedicated manager, Nelson Lund.

Lund, who has been an integral part of the Cheney store for over seven and a half years, expressed his gratitude and pride in the recognition.

He attributes the store’s success to an incredible team of hardworking individuals, who collectively contribute to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their loyal customers.

“At Bi-Mart, we are proud to be an old-fashioned small-town store that values customer service and nurturing strong relationships with our customers,” Lund emphasized.

Bi-Mart has a long history in the state of Washington, dating back to its inception in 1955 when the first store opened its doors in Yakima.

Since then, the company has expanded to operate 80 locations throughout the Pacific Northwest, continuing to offer quality products and service to the communities it serves.

Nelson Lund also highlighted the store’s commitment to community partnerships, including a valuable relationship with Eastern Washington University (EWU).

Lund revealed that some of his most dedicated and hardworking employees have been EWU students, showcasing the synergy between the store and the university.

Another proud partnership for Bi-Mart is its association with the Cheney Rodeo and its annual event.

Lund shared that the store dedicates significant time and resources each year to sponsor the rodeo arena, underlining the store’s commitment to supporting local events and traditions.

One key element that sets Bi-Mart apart is its status as an employee-owned company.

Lund explained that this employee ownership model contributes to high employee retention rates and enhances the overall employee experience.

“It really makes a big difference in how employees think and act,” Lund noted.

Lund emphasized that the recognition of being named “Cheney Business of the Year” would not have been possible without the collective efforts of every individual working in the store. Their dedication and hard work combine to create a positive atmosphere that customers genuinely enjoy.
