Eastern finishes Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. — The third round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge finished Sept. 12 where Eastern Washington women’s golf finished in 16th with a total score of 921. 

Kami Twining tied for 57th on the individual leaderboard, shooting 75 in round one and two. During the tournament, Twining had six birdies.

Meghan Singh tied for 62nd, notching a 74 in the second round. Singh had seven birdies.

Brooke Mahler opened the tournament with a 73 and had three birdies during the week.

University of North Carolina-Wilmington won the tournament with a score of 862.

Brustad posts 20-20 game to beat ‘Gonzaga

SPOKANE — For the second time this week, Eastern Washington faced off against its rival to the north as they defeated Gonzaga, 3-1; this time at the Bulldogs home tournament. The Eagles fell in their first game of the day against San Diego State, 3-0.

Sage Brustad had a career day vs. the Bulldogs, setting personal marks with 26 kills and 20 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.

Against the Aztecs, Bri Gunderson had 12 kills while Makenna Collins recorded 13 digs.

Eastern completed its non-conference schedule at .500 (6-6) going into Big Sky play. Eastern opens on the road with the defending champions, Northern Colorado, on Sept. 21 in Greeley.

The Eagles then host Montana on Sept. 23 at Reese Court.

Eagles drop final non-league matches

CHENEY — Eastern Washington dropped its final two non-league matches Sept. 14 at University of California-Davis, 3-0, and Nevada, 3-2, Sept. 17.

Leading 1-0 at the half, Davis broke away in the second half, scoring in the 63rd and 70th minutes.

Trailing 3-0, Maddie Morgan drew a foul in the box and setting up for a penalty kick which she converted in the 62nd minute. Chloe Pattison scored in the 69th minute

 The Eagles enter Big Sky play with a 1-8 record on the season and begins against Idaho State on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Pocatello.

Eagles receive more votes in latest FCS polls

CHENEY — On the heels of their home-opening win over then-No. 19/22 Southeastern Louisiana, the Eastern Washington University football team received more votes in the Week 4 Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll and broke into the “others receiving votes” category in the AFCA Coaches Poll.

Receiving 68 votes in the Stats Perform poll, the Eagles rank 28th among FCS programs, four votes behind SLU, the team they defeated 40-29 at Roos Field last Saturday. Eastern picked up 19 votes in the coaches’ poll to rank 29th.
