One arrested after fatal shooting

SPOKANE VALLEY - One man has been arrested after a fatal shooting in the 2200 block of N. Argonne in Spokane Valley according to a press release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Records show Jason S. Barton, 46, was named as a suspect during the investigation and was arrested for First degree murder and booked into Spokane County Jail on Sept. 3.

On September 2, 2023, at approximately 3:30 pm, Spokane Valley Patrol Deputies responded to the report of an injured male in the 2200 block on N. Argonne the reports show.

Records say the caller stated the male, bleeding from the chest, had just walked into the lobby of the business, but they didn’t know what caused his injuries.

Spokane Valley Deputies, Spokane County Deputies, and Spokane Valley Fire personnel arrived, contacted the adult male victim, and provided medical care, including CPR, for what appeared to be gunshot wounds according to the report.

Unfortunately, despite these efforts, the adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Records show Major Crimes Detectives and Forensic Unit Technicians responded to help locate the scene where the shooting occurred, process it for evidence, and continue the investigation to determine what led to the victim's death.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the victim, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
