Local Eagle Scouts recognized

CHENEY – Local Eagle Scouts were recognized during a ceremony Sunday, Aug. 7.

Peter Johnon, Luke Wilcox, Aiden Kennedy, Logan Morrison, Taylor Denton, Noah Hoppe and Logan Leuck received their Eagle Scout award from Troop No. 356, Tamie Johnson said.

“Many of these boys have been involved in Scouts since they were 6 years old,” she said. “Over the years, they have participated in many service projects in the community – collecting food for the Cheney Food Bank, planting trees in Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge and Cheney Clean Sweep to name a few.”

Johnson said the Scouts have also attended character development classes, survival skill campouts and value-based leadership training.

They are “prepared for life,” she said.

Here are the individual recognitions conferred during the ceremony:

Peter Lars Johnson

Eagle Project: Rebuilding a Reader Board for a local fire district.

Career Goal: Working for an appointment to the Naval Academy

Luke Samuel Wilcox

Eagle Project: Yard beautification for Naomi Community (a non-profit transitioning women with

children)

Career Goal: Enlistment with the US Coast Guard and after enlistment, become a veterinarian

Aiden Matthew Kennedy

Eagle Project: Constructed Fire Boxes for Spokane Co. Fire District 10 as an education tool for their firefighters

Career Goal: Study Architecture at Washington State University

Logan Edward Morrison

Eagle Project: Building of two Buddy benches for students of Westwood Middle School

Career Goal: Study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Montana

Taylor James David Denton

Eagle Project: Building of a Buddy Bench for the students of Cheney Middle School

Career Goal: Study Media Arts at the University of Montana

Noah Morgan Hoppe

Eagle Project: Restoration and improvement of a Pergola & ramp; Garden area for Joya (non-profit pediatric therapy provider)

Career Goal: Study Computers either in Spokane or Tucson

Logan Lee Leuck

Eagle Project: Fire clean up and repair at Kreative Kids Preschool

Career Goal: Study Biology at Eastern Washington University
