Eastern volleyball adds two coaches

CHENEY-Grayson DuBose and Taylor Muff join the ranks of the Eastern Eagles volleyball coaching staff. Head Coach Jon Haruguchi announced the news in a Thursday, May 5 press release.

DuBose was the head volleyball coach at Utah State from 2006 to 2019. Muff is a former two-time all-conference Big Sky player at the University of Northern Colorado.

Haruguchi is her former coach.

"I am so excited to have Grayson joining us here at Eastern. He brings a wealth of knowledge with regards to coaching, recruiting and overall program management that I know will be a huge asset for myself and the team," Haruguchi said. "The opportunity to work with Taylor, after coaching her for four years at UNC, is something for which I am very grateful."

Haruguchi said the former DI athlete offers a unique perspective on how to succeed at a high level.

"It is that perspective I know she will share with our staff and athletes that will bring out the best in us all," he said.

While at the helm of the Aggies program, DuBose piloted Utah State to 187 wins, the second-most in school history. He also coached 25 all-conference selections and was named WAC Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2012.

He's excited to be on board at Eastern as the associate head coach.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to work with coach Haruguchi and the Eagles' Volleyball program," DuBose said. "We have known each other for several years. I have admired not just his volleyball knowledge but who he is as a person. I am looking forward to being in the gym and working with our staff and these young ladies."

Muff will serve as an assistant coach.

"I am thrilled and honored to join the Eastern Washington Volleyball team, be reunited with coach Haruguchi, and work alongside coach DuBose," Muff said. "Both of these men know the nuisances of the game of volleyball. I consider myself extremely lucky to coach beside them. I am also looking forward to stepping back into the Big Sky Conference and using my recent experience as a student-athlete to navigate this team to success."
