Eastern opens new training facility

CHENEY— Student athletes at Eastern Washington University have a new $4.9 million training suite at their disposal. The facility is located on campus inside the Pavillion and Albers Court. Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Monica Jaenicke said the University secured funding for the project form the Capital budget of the 2019 legislative session

According to the Eastern Washington Sports Information Department, the training suite has nearly three times the space of the former athletic training room. There are 16 training tables, large above-ground pools that sit 10-15 persons at a time, an anti-gravity treadmill, x-ray capabilities and other medical modules. It also includes expanded space for athletic training students and two classrooms for Eastern Washington’s Wellness and Movement Science (WAMS) programs. An outdoor turf space was also added. This facility is not open to the public. It’s for student-athletes and athletic training staff use only.
