Two added to EWU women’s basketball roster

First-year Eastern Washington University head women’s basketball coach, Joddie Gleason, has announced two more Eagles that will join the squad this fall.

Jordyn Boesel, a 5-9 guard out of Okanogan, Wash., heads to Eastern Washington as a graduate transfer after four years at Saint Mary’s College in California. Devynn Warns is a 5-7 shooting guard out of Renton, Wash., where she attended Liberty High School.

Boesel joins the Eagles after four seasons at Saint Mary’s College in California. Boesel, who was just named to the Honorable Mention West Coast Conference All-Academic team, graduated from SMC with a degree in Business Administration and will join the Eagles as a graduate transfer while she earns her M.B.A.

Warns joins the Eagles after four standout seasons at Liberty High School in Renton, Wash., where she was a four-year letter winner for the Patriots.

Marc Anderson new tight ends coach, chief of staff

Marc Anderson, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Washington University, has officially been named as EWU’s new tight ends coach and will also hold the title of chief of staff. In 2020 he also took on additional duties as recruiting coordinator, and spent five years as director of football operations for EWU.

He provides a variety of administrative support services for head coach Aaron Best and the program, including recruiting, budget, staffing organization/hiring, head coach media obligations and other duties. Eastern’s recruiting class in 2019 was ranked No. 1 in the Big Sky and No. 2 in FCS. Anderson also assists with roster management, coordinating team meals and camps, but now on lesser scale with the addition of his tight ends coaching duties.

The EWU alum earned a masters in English degree in June 2016 and a bachelors in education and English in June 2014. He is married to current EWU assistant athletic director of compliance Mikayla Anderson.

T.J. Conley promoted to Sports Performance Department head

Former University of Idaho and NFL punter T.J. Conley has been promoted to assistant athletic director for athletic performance for the Eastern Washington University athletic department.

He will have oversight of the entire sports performance department at EWU and direct the training of all 14 varsity sports and a staff of six assistants, which include a trio of graduate assistants. While overseeing the entire program and assisting with all teams, he will work primarily with men’s and women’s basketball.

Conley has been at Eastern since April of 2019 as an assistant athletic performance coach while working with men’s and women’s basketball and assisting with football. While at EWU, he completed his master’s degree in physical education in 2020.

Conley is a 2004 graduate of DeSales High School in Walla Walla, Wash., where he was a three-sport All-State athlete (football, basketball, & baseball), and then played football at Idaho as a punter. He graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

He spent six seasons with three National Football League teams from 2009-14, including his first four years with the New York Jets.
