Cheney opens big early lead, hangs on for three-point win in Clarkston
CHENEY — The Lady Blackhawks basketball team finally notched a Great Northern League win against another team not called Pullman.
Cheney hit four consecutive 3-pointers in the first quarter — two by Emma Evans and one each from Maggie Smith and Shelby Draper — and withstood a furious last-minute rally to hold off 15th-ranked Clarkston for a 54-51 upset win at home last Wednesday night, Feb. 5. The 3s gave the Lady Blackhawks an early 14-2 lead, which they eventually expanded to 31-14 just before the half.
