Deputies at the scene of a deadly fall near Morin Trailhead

On Sept. 6, at about 7 p.m., a caller reported that a friend had fallen from the rocks near the Morin Trailhead, located in the 4500 block of N. Equestrian Ln. inside Riverside State Park, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Initial information indicated the witness and his friend – both adult males in their early twenties – ventured out onto the rocks and extremely high cliffs. As they began to make their way back, the witness crossed a narrow portion first, and when he looked back after reaching safe footing, his friend was gone.

The male did not survive the fall and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent at a later date when appropriate, the release said.
