Two former Cheney and Medical Lake athletes received league and team awards as members of the Wenatchee Valley College fastpitch softball team after the recently concluded season.
Former Lady Blackhawk Rachel Barsness was named to the Northwest Athletic Conference Eastern Region’s All-Star first-team as a catcher. Head coach Laurel Wyatt said the Knights freshman was also voted most valuable player by her teammates.
Barsness led WVC in hitting with a .432 overall average, .462 for the NVAC season. She played in all 38 games for the Knights, had 60 hits in 139 at bats – including four home runs...
