Loss ensures first-round, loser-out district game with West Valley
The only thing Tuesday’s regular season finale between Cheney and West Valley will determine is who wears which uniforms come District 7 competition this Friday evening at University High School.
The Blackhawks chances at moving up in the Great Northern League standings, and thus securing a No. 2 seed at districts, were dashed last Friday night, Feb. 1, in Pullman. After scooting out to a 17-11 first quarter lead, Cheney’s offense faltered as the Greyhounds’ came alive, with the hosts outscoring the Blackhawks 37-18 through the middle 16 minutes of the contest for a 63-49 win.
