Eastern preps for ground-pounding Cal-Poly

Eagles open Big Sky play against option-bound Mustangs

Stung by the 524 passing yards of Washington State's "Air Raid" offense in the Cougars' 59-24 nonconference football win over Eastern Washington last Saturday in Pullman, this week the Eagles need to make significant changes to prepare for the visit of the option football-centered Cal Poly Mustangs.

The two teams kick off at 1 p.m. in the Big Sky Conference opener for both at Roos Field, with Cal Poly featuring fullback Joe Protheroe, who rumbled for 228 yards on 43 carries and scored four times in CP's 44-15 nonconference win over Brown in San Luis Obispo.
