Democrats trying to scare area seniors

I get very upset about the dishonest, scare-mongering tactics from Lisa Brown’s campaign. I saw them again in the mail card that arrived at my house this week.

Lisa claims that Cathy McMorris Rodgers has voted to cut Social Security and Medicare. No, she has not!

It’s especially dishonest to make these claims when these programs are such a lifeline for friends and family and for some very vulnerable people. Cathy understands how much they matter. That’s why she has supported the hard work to make them safe and sustainable far into the future, which is critically needed as costs increase with our ageing population.

The bottom line is that Cathy has not voted to “cut” either program. All those actually serving in Washington D.C., Republican or Democrat, know that we must come up with ideas to safeguard Social Security and Medicare so that those programs won’t go away.

That’s the difference between our Congresswoman and her opponent. Cathy knows the real complexities of governing, and how it affects real people. Lisa is just sending out dishonest political sound-bites, playing on people’s anxiety.
