Season concludes for Cards' volleyball

Medical Lake volleyball wrapped up the 2017 season last week with a pair of 3-0 Northeast A League losses to Chewelah and Lakeside.

“This was another close battle where the girls played an all around good match,” head coach Todd Harr wrote in an email about Chewelah (7-7 NEA, 8-7 overall), which won 25-16, 25-15 and 25-20 on Oct. 17. “Being Senior Night there was a lot of extra emotions in the building, but the team handled it well and still played at a high level,” he added.

Hailey Gross played a solid match notching two kills to go along with a block. Claire Morrison led in assists with three.

“Each of our seniors have played a role in helping this team grow,” Harr said. Despite a winless 0-14 campaign, Harr singled out the efforts of those seniors, Katie Kepner, Claire Morrison, Emily McCormick, Kayla Gerry, Kelly Nix and Hailey Gross. “They should all be proud of what they have accomplished along with how many people they have inspired along the way.”

Undefeated, and league-leading Lakeside (13-0, 14-0) breezed to set victories of 25-7, 25-7 and 25-13 Oct. 19. “Once again we saw the offensive prowess of Lakeside, the best team in the league,” Harr said.

Courtney Daylo and Megan Goertz led in digs with eight each. Lexie Redel led with two kills and had a handful of touches on the blocks against the Eagles.
