Cheney defeats Othello, advances to state tournament
The Cheney Blackhawks baseball team celebrates advancing to the 2A state tournament after their 2-1 win against Othello.
The Cheney Blackhawks baseball team will compete in the 2A state tournament for the third time in four years. However, this year they will be doing so with the moniker of District 7 champions.
The Blackhawks defeated Pullman, 8-3 and West Valley, 5-1 on May 9 to capture the District 7 title. Four days later, they defeated Central Washington Athletic Conference's Othello, 2-1 in a regional crossover game to advance to the first round of the state tournament.
