Kupp, Ebukam both picked in NFL draft

Former Eagles snapped up in third, fourth rounds by L.A. Rams; Bourne, Hill, West will try NFL free agent route

Eastern Washington University teammates Cooper Kupp and Samson Ebukam are now together again as members of the Los Angeles Rams following last week's NFL draft.

Kupp, the record-setting wide receiver, was picked in the third round, 69th overall in day two of the draft held in Philadelphia, Pa. Then Saturday, the Rams selected Ebukam in the fourth round with the 125th pick.

"We congratulate Cooper Kupp," Eastern head coach Aaron Best said. "Everything he's accomplished he's earned, and he's earned the right to play in the NFL."

Kupp is the second-highest draft choice in school history, and Ebukam equals the spot running back Taiwan Jones who was picked in the fourth round by Oakland in the 2011 NFL Draft and has remained with the Raiders since.

"When (Cooper) got picked by them I was like, 'Yeah, that's the perfect team,'" Ebukam said after he was drafted as an outside linebacker. "Then I thought to myself, what are the chances I get picked by the same team? And it just happened and I was like, 'Woah, Eagles really do stick together.' That's awesome.'"

A four-time All-American and two-time FCS Player of the Year for the Eagles, Kupp's selection ranks only behind former 10-year NFL veteran offensive lineman Michael Roos, chosen as the 41st pick overall in the 2005 draft by Tennessee.

Three other Eastern players will get their shots at an NFL career, despite not being drafted.

Wide receivers Kendrick Bourne and Shaq Hill are expected to join a pair of Eagle draftees at NFL mini-camps starting May 12. Bourne will join the San Francisco 49ers and Hill will become a member of the Houston Texans, after each reported that they have agreed to terms as undrafted free agents.

On Tuesday, May 2, quarterback Jordan West was invited to next week's Chicago Bears rookie mini-camp with hopes of also signing an undrafted free agent contract.
