Cards pound Gorillas in softball

Hailey Hostetter had a 4-for-4 day at the plate with four RBIs, and Hannah Petek stroked a grand slam home run in the second inning on Medical Lake’s 21-6 season-opening nonleague softball victory over visiting Davenport, March 17.

Among Hostetter’s hits were a pair of doubles. Petek’s homer was part of a 12-run second inning in a game that went just three innings due to the “mercy rule.”

Other big bats for the Cardinals were Sarah Mayer who was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Suzanne Shores had a 2-for-3 day with three runs batted in. Taylor Pavao went 3-for-3 and Annika Redell had a three-run home run.

Medical Lake opened Northeast A League play this week, hosting Colville on March 21 and Deer Park today, March 23 at 4 p.m. In between, the Cardinals hosted East Valley on March 22 in a nonleague game.
