Supporting school bond is supporting future Cheney students

Letters to the Editor

As graduates of EWU and then spending the next 49 years as community members of Cheney, we are supporting the new school bond proposal.

Upon receiving our teaching degrees, we chose to live here and raise our family in this town in large part due to the excellent educational system provided for our children. As both teachers and coaches during our teaching careers, we have taught at the elementary, junior high, middle school and high school during times of new construction and district improvements.

During all these years of experiences under many different administrators and superintendents, Cheney has continually been recognized for its outstanding school system, as well as the financial and future planning of its many schools in its extremely large district. As our sons benefited from those in the past who worked to make Cheney such an exceptional district, it is now our turn to “pay it forward” to those students and professionals who will make a difference in the future.

Please support this bond issue to ensure continued excellence in academic, as well as extremely beneficial extra-curricular activities, that in turn bless our community with their many successes. We have witnessed and personally experienced the many changes of our school systems over the years and have faith and confidence in our school leaders again today, to have done their best to look at this proposal in numerous financial and economic ways for the benefit of all of our children.

Again, please vote yes on Feb. 14!

Curt and Joan Hisaw

Cheney
